About lutefisk in Norway and America

The last couple of months before Christmas is the lutefisk season in Norway. Some restaurants have specialized in lutefisk, and we know some people who go to lutefisk dinners several times during the lutefisk season. The lutefisk dinners are rather expensive, not far from USD 100 just for the food. And if you eat it "the Norwegian Way", with beer and aqavite, it might cost you nearly USD 100 in addition.

Interesting to read about the many lutefisk dinners in the US. The Garborg Lodge of Sons of Norway in Modesto, CA is having its 59th Annual Lutefisk Dinner (!!) on Nov 17th, just to mention one event. And the price is only USD 15 for the meal ! For those who do not do the fish, they can have Swedish Meatballs instead !

Picture shows a Norwegian lutefisk plate as we use to have it in Skien in Telemark.

When you are with friends and have Lutefisk on the menu, you might also sing the Lutefisk Song "O'Lutefisk".
