Early fall 2009 they plan a tour in Wisconsin and North Dakota, and they hope to have performances in Madison WI, in Minneapolis, Fargo and Minot ND.
Juven Tours in Fargo will take care of all arrangements, and Carrol Juven came to Skien 8 Apr 2008 to have a first meeting at Dag Bondeheimen with representatives from the choir. This was Carrol's 126th trip to Norway !
On Norway's Constitution Day 17 May 2008 Skiens Mannssangforening gives performances in Sweden's capital, Stockholm, so we might miss them in Skien on that day. Skiens Mannssangforening has 70 members, and 55 of them plan to join the trip to Stockholm. They have an estimate that at least 40 members + partners will join the planned trip to the Midwest next year.
The conductor of Skiens Mannssangforening, Tore Jordfald has been to the US before. First time, in 1956/1957, he travelled all over America and Canada for 5 months with the famous Norwegian boys choir Olavsguttene. Svein Helge Høgberg, well known artist in Norway as a member of Dizzie Tunes, today a member of the male choir, will join next year.
Ragnhild Hagen from Ulefoss, businessman Ivar Stulen from Skien, and project manager Telemark Heritage, Hermod H. Monsen were also attending the meeting at Dag Bondeheimen. Ragnhild Hagen has been arranging travel groups between Norway and America for more that 30 years, and she has got several awards for her work, among others the Norwegian King's Golden Order of Merit in 2005. Ivar Stulen has been a friend of Carrol Juven for many, many years, has visited the US a number of times, and he has helped Carrol with transportation and various other meetings in Skien now in April.
