Terje Mikalsen in Skien City Hall

Terje Mikalsen gave a speech in Skien City Hall on Aug 26. Terje Mikalsen is widely regarded as one of Norway's most successful technology investors and entrepreneurs. Today Terje Mikalsen lives in Minneapolis, and he is the managing owner of Venturos AS and Chief Executive Officer for Tysvar.

Since 1967, when he co- founded and became chairman of Norsk Data, he has been an active owner and chairman of the board in several other technology companies including Hafslund Nycomed and the venture capital company Teknoinvest. He was educated as an engineer from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and he headed the development and deployment of the world's first computerized radar system for collision avoidance at sea before turning to technology investments. Mikalsen has served as an advisor on many national committees under several different Norwegian governments and he has received honors and recognitions including "The Norwegian Entrepreneur of the Year Award" in 1999. Through Venturos and previously Mosvold Farsund, he has been a founder or early investor into a number of start-ups.
