Olav Thon, a Norwegian real estate magnate bought his first building in 1951 and opened his first restaurant in 1966. Now his Olav Thon Gruppen, the country's largest private real estate company by market cap, owns 420 properties in Norway and 25 abroad. The portfolio includes 61 shopping malls as well as office buildings, retail stores, hotels (7,000 rooms) and several Oslo restaurants and pubs.
